Newest Gardens to Join the Network – June, 2011
The Eastside Sprouts Community Garden
To be developed at 1023 N. Pine St. in the historic Dignowity Hill Neighborhood, the Eastside Sprouts garden will help Dignowity Hill residents in their neighborhood revitalization efforts by providing fresh food to the Ella Austin senior’s lunch program and educating neighborhood children about gardening.
The International Community Garden
Located at 4242 Bluemel Road, near USAA, the International Community Garden will expand its current garden to host over 30 refugee families from Myanmar and Bhutan. Garden participants will have greater self-sufficiency and the opportunity to fully integrate into their community by having the ability to supply fresh food to family members and increase interaction with other families within the neighborhood.
